The Management Company for Assets Arising from the Banking Sector Reorganisation (Sareb) will temporarily transfer 400 homes to the Junta de Andalucía (Andalusian Regional Government) to be let as affordable housing. As established in the agreement signed today by the Development and Housing Minister Felipe López and Sareb's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Director, Gaspar González-Palenzuela. This is the tenth agreement that Sareb has signed with autonomous communities and large city halls.
The agreement establishes that the Ministry for Development and Housing will manage the assigned homes for four years, thereby helping to cover its need for more affordable rental housing. The rental price will be below 30% of the overall household income.
Sareb will receive a monthly payment from the Junta de Andalucía to cover costs such as damage insurance and public liability, service charges and taxes. The Junta de Andalucía among others, will be responsible for obtaining the energy efficiency certificates, if the properties do not already have one, as well as the standard maintenance and repair costs of the homes and technical assistance to the tenant.
The Junta de Andalucía will take on the role of selecting the tenants, based on its framework housing policy and signing a lease agreement with them. Up to 50% of the homes assigned can be occupied by families in default or without a rented or purchased property, in which case the Junta de Andalucía will help to rectify these situations.
Sareb has offered a total of 4,000 homes to autonomous communities and large city halls, in order for them to use them as part of their own social programmes. The company has currently made 2,225 homes available via the agreements signed with eight autonomous communities (Catalonia, Aragón, Galicia, Balearic Islands, Castilla y León, Canary Islands, Cantabria and Andalusia) and the Madrid and Barcelona city halls.
On signing this agreement today, more than 7,500 people now benefit from Sareb's affordable housing to let assignment plans.
