Today Sareb announced that as of September Luis Martín Guirado will join the company as the new Director of Transactions, replacing Juan Barba, who is leaving the company in order to pursue other professional projects, after his active role in starting up the company.
Luis Martín Guirado (Madrid, 1956), who to-date was the CEO of BNP Paribas Real Estate, has extensive experience in the finance and real estate sector, which means he has an over-arching knowledge of the whole real estate market, from development to sales, as well as consultancy, valuation and asset management.
Prior to managing the Spanish subsidiary of BNP Paribas Real Estate, which he joined in 2007, Martín Guirado was the CEO of the real estate consultancy Roan for four years, where he managed a team of more than 300 consultants and created alliances with various international groups. Between 1998 and 2003, he was Director of Private Banking at Credit Suisse and between 1996 and 1998 Vice-President of Citibank, which included roles in insurance, media, operations and technology. Before that he worked at Técnicas Reunidas and Seguros Génesis.
At the same time as carrying out these roles, for several years and up until December, he was the President of the professional institution RICS Spain, which is comprised of professionals from various different areas in the real estate sector. Martín Guirado is a civil engineer and graduated from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, with further studies carried out at Instituto de Empresa and INSEAD.
Sareb's CEO, Jaime Echegoyen, valued Martín Guirado's extensive track-record and career, "which has allowed him to acquire an in-depth knowledge of the real estate sector, across multiple stages of the market cycle and from all angles, including investment, development, the public sector, private companies and individual clients. His appointment will allow us to strengthen a team that has already shown its ability to complete deals efficiently and transparently and which is helping to breathe new life in to the real estate sector and attract investment".
The President of Sareb, Belén Romana, acknowledged the exceptional work that Juan Barba carried out over the first year and a half of Sareb's life. "Juan has played a key role in starting-up the company's business activity. Thanks to his work and that of his team, despite its youth, Sareb is now a fully operational and highly active company across all sales channels".
After its first year, which focused on building the company and starting its business activity, Sareb has carried out an internal reorganisation in order to tackle new projects related to creating added value and more efficiently managing its assets, which was bolstered at the beginning of this year with the appointment of the CEO, Jaime Echegoyen.
